Dr. Edit Khachatryan Receives Key Endorsements from Glendale College Guild and East Area Progressive Democrats

GLENDALE, CA — Today, Dr. Edit Khachatryan announced formal endorsements from the Glendale College Guild and the East Area Progressive Democrats (EAPD) in her campaign for the Glendale Community College Board of Trustees (Area 2).

“I’m honored to receive the support of the Glendale College Guild and the East Area Progressive Democrats,” said Dr. Khachatryan. “This campaign is about uplifting every student, valuing educators and staff, and ensuring that Glendale Community College remains a place where opportunity and equity are real, not just ideals. Together with these partners in our community, we’ll build a stronger, more student-centered future for GCC.”

Last month, Dr. Khachatryan launched her campaign with a focus on strengthening transfer and career pathways, supporting the whole student, ensuring high-quality learning in every setting, investing in educators and staff, and promoting transparency and shared decision-making.

“Dr. Edit Khachatryan understands higher education from the inside—as both an educator and a parent. That’s why the Glendale College Guild, AFT 2276, representing professors, counselors, and librarians, proudly endorses her for trustee in Area 2,” stated Jennie Quinonez-Skinner, Public Information Officer for the Guild.

“Devotion to public education and stewardship of our community colleges matter now more than ever. East Area Progressive Democrats (EAPD) is proud to endorse Edit Khachatryan for the open seat on the Glendale Community College Board in Area 2. She earned the EAPD endorsement with a unanimous vote of club members. Edit demonstrates focus on shared governance and proficiency in listening. She has firsthand familiarity with this thriving campus that has become a catalyst of our local economy and civic life. Edit is ready to lead in the spirit of retiring GCC trustee Ann Ransford, a respected EAPD member, who has also endorsed Edit to succeed her. We trust Edit to serve all residents and the entire college community with skill, teamwork, and integrity,” said Hans Johnson, President of the EAPD.

The Glendale College Guild, Local 2276 of the American Federation of Teachers and affiliate of the California Federation of Teachers, has represented Glendale Community College faculty since 1972. The Guild advocates for instructors, counselors, librarians, and other academic professionals—protecting faculty rights, improving working conditions, enforcing contracts, and supporting policies that advance high-quality public education.

The East Area Progressive Democrats is a community-based Democratic club in East Los Angeles that champions progressive values and actively engages in local civic life to support candidates committed to equity, inclusion, and community-centered public policy.

Dr. Edit Khachatryan is an educator, researcher, and community advocate running for the Glendale Community College Board of Trustees, Area 2. She believes effective leadership means listening closely, using data and lived experience to guide decisions, and staying deeply connected to the community — ensuring the college delivers for students, families, and Glendale. She entered the race with endorsements from four current members of the Glendale Community College Board of Trustees: Dr. Sevan Benlian, Dr. Armine Hacopian, Yvette Vartanian Davis, and Ann Ransford.
